OK, I know that I need to exercise and diet and stuff but I want to know if any of the fat burners or diet pills they sell in GNC actually work to speed up belly fat loss. Thanks!

Is it possible to get rid of my abdominal fat without cutting calories too much? I already exercise quite a bit and I'm willing to cut down on carbs but I just can't cut my calories too much. When I do that I end up eating everything I see the next day!

Do gain weight before you lose weight? I have been working on losing belly fat and I think that my stomach is getting bigger, while the rest of my body is getting smaller.

I am 31 with 2 kids (back to back C sections.) I cannot seem to lose belly fat. My weight is in the target range for my height and bone structure, but I gain in my tummy. I was also diagnosed with PCOS & insulin resistance & told that I gain weight like a man (midsection.) What is the best diet & exercise to rid tummy fat?

I weigh 120 pounds, I'm 5'3, and all my weight is in my stomach. I don't know what's wrong with me. Everyday I run at least 5 miles and I do frequent ab workouts but I have so much loose weight on my stomach! I can't figure out why this is happening but are there any other ways I can reduce the size of my stomach to be nice and flat?

I've been lucky in not getting belly fat most of my life.
It's only since I hit 60 years old that it has started to appear - and it's become difficult to lose.

So I sat down and carefully calculated how many calories I am using per day, and how many calories I am using in vigorous exercise.
Then I compared it with what I was using ten years ago.

The results were alarming, and made me realise the cause of exess belly fat. I used to use at least
3000 calories per day, and 300 calories or more were used in vigorous exercise - in addition to weight training.
Recently I am only using 2200 calories per day with very little vigorous exercise, although I still do as much weight training as I used to.

So - I think the total calories you burn - both in normal activities and vigorous exercise is an important factor in losing belly fat. You have to increase the amount of *low-level* activity as well as just 'hitting the gym' three or four times per week.

What you eat is of course very important, but I think many people just don't use enough calories in their everyday lives.

I've changed my routine accordingly
and have already lost four pounds of fat and gained two pounds of lean weight.

Is losing belly fat related to eating food in a different way rather than focus on exercise?

What do you think is better cardio or resistance training? I used a home workout for my weight loss and loved it.

One thing that I've seen always work for everyone is to eat 5 times a day, no carbs after 6pm and have a complete breakfast (don't skip it)breakfast boosts your metabolism so you loose weight eating the same, or in this case, more. See my free tips on my blog if you're interested.

To lose belly fat, you need to concentrate on your diet, cardio and resistance training, not just one area.
Diet: consume 10 calories for every pound of bodyweight, per day, split over 6 palm sized meals per day. Keep sugars low and protein high, i.e. eat chicken salads, wholegrain foods, fish, lean meats, brown rice, etc.
Cardio: do it early before breakfast, when your hormones are in the right balance for fat loss - 40 minutes, 3-4 times per week.
Resistance training: 2-3 evening per week, super high intensity, slow, controlled, smooth reps for 40 minutes.

Hope this helps.

I am a gym owner and a personal trainer but I do not know much about nutrition and how it affects weight gain so my question is below.

Is there any truth to the beer gut? Does drinking beer make you gain weight in the belly or does it just make you gain everywhere on the body?

The best way to aid burning fat and even reducing cravings is with whey protein. I'm very skeptical of a lot of proteins and supplements but after exhaustive research I've found this was the best for me. After playing professional soccer for years, when I stopped due to injury it was actually hard for me to lose extra pounds. This way is great.

I recently wrote an article over here on whey protein weight loss you should check out for some great tips.

I just started my weight loss plan not too long ago and have lost around 15 pounds so far. I recently had a breast reduction so I'm not able to exercise for about 3 to 4 weeks so how can I continue to lose belly fat without being able to exercise?
